True to your style

Happy Tuesday everybody!!  Have you noticed that there is a “topic” bloggroupgoing around in blogland.   In reading several post last night I realized  that it isn’t just me. Seem like alot of people feel the same way in regards to this topic.  It’s the topic of  “style” in/of  the home.

What is your style in your home?  style Are you true to it?  Or are you reading all the blogs out there and trying to conform to what others are doing?

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to look at how others are decorating their homes, and maybe take a tip or too away to incorporate in the  “feel” of my home, but  I just can’t make myself get rid of or change my style every time something new comes down the pike.  Can you imagine how expensive that would get?  YIKES! Hubby WOULD not be happy with that.

For instance, as much as I love the shabby chic look, all the whites, etc, it really isn’t that practical for me.  That’s not to say that I wouldn’t love to have a few pieces thrown in for the feminine side of me. But not all throughout the house.  But I do love looking at it.

So this got me to thinking about how I decorate.  I decorate my home for my family, something that is warm and inviting to all that come to my house, (and on more than one occasion, I have been complimented on my style), I love displaying all my collections(and there are many), and I love mixing all my “antique” pieces with my new things.  It works for me.  I love finding new uses for “old” discarded pieces of our country’s  past.

So I guess you know now where I stand on this “topic”.  And I am resigned to stay true to my style, and today I am OKAY with that.  I don’t have to feel pressured to change to keep up with what everyone else is doing.

So guess my question is this?  Are you on the bandwagon of all the changes to your home? are you being true to your real style? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Philippians 2:1-2“[Imitating Christ's Humility] If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.”

  1. I'm like you, I love looking at other blogs and homes on the web. I like to see different things, I like the shabby chic but wouldn't decorate my house in it, I love the beachy/nautical thing but again wouldn't do my home in it, unless I lived right next to the ocean! I like warm cozy colors and tradition type furniture and that's all I go with really. :)

  2. You said it nicely...I love looking but I make my own nest. The thing with me is when I get something in place and tweek it and it looks good, I am happy with it. It has a place and a home. The only time I go changing stuff out is when the season changes. And yes, I was a lover of decorating and still am. But, I think in the day when I was moving furnitue and changing out accessories~I just didn't know how to "fix-it" to make it look good.
My back really loves me now and the checkbook & the hubby really appreciate it.
Girl, you struck a chord with me on this topic.

  4. Hi Cindy,
Hope all is well with you.
For me I love to look at the other blogs and see how people are decorating their homes. But I tend to stay with traditional and warm. I like to change a bit around the Fall-my favourite time of year and at Christmas.
    Have a great day!
    Blessings and hugs.
