Organizing my mind, Are you?

It is ultimately our thinking, more than our outer circumstances, that determines whether we live lives of harmony and peace or pain and despair.  ---- Marianne Williamson

why meI know what some of you are thinking when you see this title.  Yeah right?  How do we do that?  Not really sure but will tell you that there is a lot of that going on with me at the moment.  Do you ever feel like this young lady.  Always feeling overwhelmed.  Me too.  But I have decided to take action and
put a stop to this feeling.

So you ask how am I achieving this?  I am getting proper sleep, at least 7 hours or so a night.

Sleeping Woman
I’m creating my daily morning To Do list

to-do-list-nothing
One thing I am doing in conjunction is making a ongoing list, projects and future projects, and working toward one project at a time to get them accomplished. Focusing on just 15 minutes a day rule is better than “NO minutes a day”.   I also find that when I start with just 15 minutes I tend to go longer.

I might include things like:
Getting rid of clutter, one room at a time, one drawer at a time

Organize closets
Paint a room/or several rooms

Organize my pantry
ETC….

Planning to start a writing journal.  I purchased one, and so plan to write at least weekly, not daily, not putting that pressure on myself, but think it will help to journal some of what is going on with me.
And who knows it might become a daily habit.

Another thing I try to do is keep a gratitude list/journal.  Actually I am keeping a list born out of reading Ann Voskamp book “  One Thousand Gifts”. Usually I post my list on Monday’s when I join in with the Multitudes on Monday with others. (Off topic a bit, but wanted to share that this morning I found a wonderful journal that accompanies this book.  It is now on my Christmas list, take a peek it is wonderful!)

I am also limiting myself with TV and computer time.  Doing pretty good with the TV time, still working on the computer time.

Isolated Computer
A few other things that I am trying to do as well, as make some time for myself, doing something fun everyday that I enjoy and not feeling guilty about it.  Also get in some physical exercise.  Usually it is walking but now that the weather is turning cooler and cold, not sure what form I will take up.

Also, make time during the day, preferably the morning to spend some time in the word.

Bible front view
So how about you?  How are you doing organizing your mind or are you?

HELPFUL TIP: One tip that has helped me is limiting the amount of negativity in my life, whether it be by family, friends, TV, newspaper, etc.

2 Timothy 3:16-17“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Something is on my mind

and today I want to share it with you.  If you have been keeping up with me here, you know for the most part for a while now I have been struggling with much.  Either through post that I have written or lack of written post.

I feel as though my whole world has been under attack lately.  Now I know this isn’t true, but the feeling remains the same. When times are like these, I just want to cling to God and his word and promises, but for some reason, I have been struggling with that too.  Maybe because sometimes, I just don’t get it.  But let me tell you a about a little find I have found.  It’s a book written by Lysa Terkeurst called “Becoming More than a good bible study girl”.  Wow…I have just started reading it and it’s wonderful and answers so many of my questions about my relationship with God.

Take a peek at one of her videos

Just in the first part  of the book  “In My Heart”, she talks about….

  1. Trying to Be Good Enough
  2. Flitting To and Fro
  3. When I Feel like I Don’t Measure Up

If these are topics that you can relate too, then you have to read it.  With each page I turn I am eager for her help in getting out of this “rut”. The rut of desiring and knowing God more intimately, and not knowing how to get there.  If you feel this way, then perhaps this would be a good read for you too.

If any of you have read it, I would love to know if and how it affected your “knowing God” better.

Ok…off to have my quiet time now.

Oh BTW…

Courtney of Women Living Well, is hosting this challenge for wives. Every Monday, June 7 - August 9, Courtney will be sharing biblical principles about how to be the woman your man needs. Mark your calendars and join me in becoming the women our husbands need.

Spending some time

getting better organized.  This is a basic need in January/February  for me to get myself on the right track for the new year.  How bout you?  Why is it we all want a fresh start at the beginning of the new year?  I wanted to share some photos that I have collected over time as incentive to motivate me.  Take a little peek… (not sure where I found most of these.  Thought I did better at organizing them).  Guess that is something I should WORK on.  Here we will focus on the kitchen….

I really like the look of this “pot” cabinet, especially the place to keep cookie sheets and lids, these are my two biggest problem areas in my “pot” cabinet. How bout you?  Do you have a trick to try to get better organized?

Spices in the drawer.  I like this idea.

Silverware

drawer organization

what about a cabinet that you can use vertically.  Love the idea of cutting boards and platters.

A wonderful idea is to incorporate a piece of furniture to house your dishes…for easy access

I love this pantry.

Okay, these are a few of the ideas that I ran across that I need to see if I can implement into my kitchen and pantry.

Do you have some great tips and ideas too?  if so, let me know.  I need all the help I can get.

Recipe for Kindness

Mother-Wallpaper-04

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow
Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow.

Chop one grudge in tiny pieces
Add several cups of love
Dredge with a large sized smile
Mix with the ingredients above.

Dissolve the hate within you,
By doing a good deed
Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need.

Stir in laughter, love an kindness
From the heart it has to come,
Toss with genuine forgiveness
And give your neighbor some.

The amount of people served
Will depend on you,
It can serve the whole wide world,
If you really want it to.

The Concert

I received this from a good friend this morning, and it has a powerful message. See if it speaks to you as it did me.

When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage.

To her horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's ear,"Don't quit .. .. . keep playing."Then, leaning over , Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part.. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child, and he added a running obbligato.

Together, the old master and the young novice transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience.

The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn't recall what else the great master played.Only the classic," Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."Perhaps that's the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren't always graceful flowing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life's work can truly be beautiful.

The next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, "Don't quit .. . . Keep playing."

May you feel His arms around you and know that His hands are there, helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces.
Remember, God doesn't seem to call the equipped, rather, He equips the 'called.'

Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire. So touch someone by passing this little message along.

May God bless you and be with you always and remember ,

Don't quit . .. . Keep playing."
