Pumpkins anyone?

"For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together.  For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.”     -Edwin Way Teale

I am finally getting around to sharing some of my fall decorations that I worked on last week. Although I am not finished, not sure I ever finish, but I got to a stopping point.  One of my favorite things to do this time of year is gather all my crates of goodies and start changing out the summer things for my fall things.

Well this gives you a sneak peak, I will be showing more along the way.

seeking the successive autumns."

Godly One-Liners

I saw this on one of my favorite Christian web sites, and I really liked it.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Give God Whats Right

1. Give God what’s right — not what’s left.
2. Man’s way leads to a hopeless end — God’s way leads to an endless hope.
3. A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.
4. He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.
5. In the sentence of life, the devil may be a comma–but never let him be the period.
6. Don’t put a question mark where God puts a period.
7. Are you wrinkled with burden? Come to GOD for a face-lift.
8. When praying, don’t give God instructions-just report for duty.
9. Don’t wait for six strong men to take you to church.
10. We don’t change God’s message–His message changes us.
11. The church is prayer-conditioned.
12. When God ordains, He sustains.
13. WARNING: Exposure to the Son may prevent burning.
14. Plan ahead–It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.
15. Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory position.
16. Suffering from truth decay? Brush up on your book.
17. Exercise daily–walk with the Lord.
18. Never give the devil a ride–he will always want to drive.
19. Nothing else ruins the truth like stretching it.
20. Compassion is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.
21. He who angers you controls you.
22. Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.
23. Give Satan an inch & he’ll be a ruler.
24. Be ye fishers of men–you catch them & He’ll clean them.
25. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
26. Read the Book — It will scare the hell out of you.

Psalm 121:1-2“[A song of ascents.] I lift up my eyes to the hills— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Thankful Thursday- Sept 9- Best Friend

emo_flowers1_thankfulThursday

Welcome back for Thankful Thursday, if this is your first time here, welcome.

Hubby and I had the chance to spend the weekend running around and hanging out with some friends, but these weren’t just any friends, it was my best friend.

So I have been spending time being thankful for her.  She is one of the people that knows me so well and I don’t have to explain anything to her, she and I can finish one another's sentences and knows what the other is thinking without a word.

We can spend time just being quiet, and it’s not uncomfortable.

We share the love of the same things.

We can cry together

We can laugh together, and we do.

She is like a sister to me.

She is Donna.

best friend

What are you thankful for today?  Check out what others are saying @  Grace Alone .  Thanks  Irisfor being such a gracious hostess.

One of those days

when I haven’t felt like doing ANYTHING.  I feel horrible that I haven’t been here to post since Saturday but we had a busy holiday weekend, and then Monday and Tuesday this week, I spent it putting out Fall decorations. Will try to share with you some of our weekend fun later.

Today I am feeling a bit out of sorts, tired, and just kinda blah.  Here’s to hoping that I will be back tomorrow for my Simple Pleasures and Thankful Thursday post, and hoping to get around to do some visiting.

Thanks to everyone that has visited with me over the last several days and for the emails.  I love to hear from  you.  :)

Hugs!

Summers goin but Fall’s a comin

Happy Friday ya’ll.  I hope everyone is ready for a our last holiday weekend of the summer.  Guess you know what that means, Fall is a coming. Like everyone else, I can’t wait.
As the summer fades out and we enter autumn, it's time to give your home a look that captures the spirit of the season, adding spice and warmth to your home in a simple, fun , natural way. Whether you're spreading pumpkins and gourds around your kitchen or porch, or adorning your sofa with soft, warm blankets, you'll find that it's small touches that go a long way when decorating for the fall.
This below pictures were made in ‘06.

I still love this wreath that I made that year.

Mums and bittersweet tucked in a wooden box .  Each year I change this up a bit, but I love the old wooden box as my centerpiece for this table.
porch1I no longer have this door, but one things we enjoying doing is putting all the pumpkins on the porch surrounded by corn stalks.
Not only have I been dreaming of Autumn for decorating my home, but pulling out my warmer clothes, my sweaters and sweatshirts (I’m a sweatshirt kinda girl) and hiking boots, thick wooly socks, and turtlenecks, and flannel jammies.  Are you with me?

I have something fun for today to get everybody ready for fall and to help get us motivated to get out those Autumn decorations and light those pumpkin spice candles. Are you ready?
To get us started lets think about things

Autumn Leaves
Leaves in the autumn came tumbling down,
Scarlet and yellow, russet and brown,
Leaves in the garden were swept in a heap,
Trees were undressing, ready for sleep.

Autumn
When the trees their summer splendor
Change to raiment red and gold,
When the summer moon turns mellow,
And the nights are getting cold;
When the squirrels hide their acorns,
And the woodchucks disappear;
Then we know that it is autumn,
Loveliest season of the year.

So now are your ready to get to work on those decorations? Got pictures, do share!
