I hope this finds everybody doing well and from the little glimpses I have had when reading or visiting your blogs it sounds like all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know we did. Traveling to Kentucky was long but we had a wonderful time spending it with family. Of course, the food was plentiful and tasty. Since our actual meal was the fifth one for my sister this year, and my parents were leaving town the day after we left, mom sent all the leftovers home with me. Needless to say I am still eating turkey. Since my days are long and I am so tired when I arrive home in the evening, I have been enjoying not having to cook.
I still don't have things quite back to normal, but fortunately when I left for my moms, I had cleaned my house so I came home to a clean house. Granted since we have gotten home we haven't been doing so well keeping things picked up. But hoping that in the next couple of days things will come together a little bit for me.
I have really been struggling with some personal issues and I think that has had me just a little bit more moody and exhausted than normal. I have been seeking some peace through scriptures and one that keeps popping up for me is "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV This passage over the years has really helped me....as well as the old adage " One day at a time". I know from past experiences that this scripture holds alot of power for me, I have seen it. So why do I always doubt when things seem so "hard, miserable". I pray that God will not let these trials steal my joy during this holiday season. But my body and my mind get so tired.And I know when that happens, I lose joy! Does this happen to any of you, or is it just me? Sometimes it makes me wonder if I don't have enough faith or what I am doing wrong. Is it me?
I read one post this morning that really was beneficial for me. I could see me all over this post. Feel free to read Broken Vessels entry from Dec. 1.
I need to scoot for now, but I hope you all are having a blessed day.
Hugs!
Cindy

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop—
The bitter and the sweet.
I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.
I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for the future crown
And for the present cross.
I thank Thee for both wings of love
Which stirred my worldly nest;
And for the stormy clouds which drove
Me, trembling, to Thy breast.
I bless Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy;
And for this strange, this settled peace
Which nothing can destroy. --Jane Crewdson (1860)

Heading Home

Traveling to Kentucky for Thanksgiving.
Just a few prayers/verses to ponder on and give thanks!
- Psalm 31:19(NIV)How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.
- Psalm 95:1-6(KJV) "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker."
- Psalm 100(KJV) "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."
- Psalm 107:1(NIV)"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."
- Psalm 145:7(NIV)They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name."

It's done!
Hi ya'll! So glad you got a chance to swing by and visit with me for a few minutes this morning. I can't believe another weekend has come and gone and we are into a new week. I had a very productive weekend though, and for that I feel such a sense of relief. I actually had some time to spend in my bible study and bible reading. What a treat.
Anyhow, I got my house decorated for Christmas and I am so happy. I normally don't decorate until the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but since we are going to be in Kentucky for the Thanksgiving holiday, and will not have alot of time when I get home I thought it best to go ahead and put it up. Whew it was a two day job, and believe me when I say every muscle in my body aches. Up and down steps, squatings, lifting, etc. about did this old body in. So now my focus will be on buying and wrapping presents when I get back. I have only bought a few little gifts. But I do have my list made of ideas. That will be a big help for me.
I am going to try to take some pictures of the house, but not sure if I will get it done before I leave for Kentucky. If I don't then will try to get some up for you to see when I get back home.
K...just wanted to give you a update as to what I am up too. I hope you all are having a great week. What kind of Thanksgiving plans do you have.
Blessings,
Cindy

A fun weekend!
Can you believe this week is gone too? I can't believe that it is Friday already, but I am so happy. I am looking forward to this weekend. It is going to be a cold, dreary weekend from the reports that I have heard, but that is okay. I plan to put on Christmas movies, and Christmas music and decorate my house. Looking forward to putting our first Christmas together. Just me and the hubby will be working on it tomorrow, but my goal is to get everything done except for the ornaments on the trees, and when the kids come over on Sunday they can do that? I will take some pictures when it is all done and show you.

Many thanks!
Let me start this by saying thank you for the nice comments, emails, that I received from this post. Believe me when I say that your thoughts and prayers were felt by not only me, but the whole family. The memorial service was simple beautiful. We have been back home for a week and trying to settle back into our routines. It is taking time but we are getting there. We were blessed with great weather while we were in Texas for the funeral. On the morning that we Betty was buried the weather was 80 degrees and it was sunny. A perfect day. It's still hard for me to believe that it's over. Finally all her suffering is in the past. I can't tell you how much that comforts us knowing she isn't in any more pain. So again, thank you!
We got our first snow here last night. It didn't stick but while I was driving home from work it was snowing like crazy. As I was driving in it, it was coming right at me. I hate that. Granted I don't like to drive in many weather conditions except sunshine, and don't like it if it blinds me. :) Our temps for the next 10 days is only suppose to get around the mid 30's. Thinking it is time to throw another blanket on the bed, or cuddle up next to a fire.
I am trying to get myself psyched up for Christmas. Not so much the holiday as I am all the work involved in decorating. I am so behind this year. I haven't really done any shopping or baking, nothing! I have a partial shopping list made out but not sure when I am going to find the time to get it all done. We are planning on putting our trees up this weekend. Our plans are to head to Kentucky either Tuesday night or Wednesday for Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to being at my mommas. Not to mention I will finally get to meet my little nephew Caleb. We actually will not be celebrating with our big meal until Friday, so no black Friday sales for me. But if you want to check out some, the ads are already out there. Mom and I usually do some shopping that day but not this year.I guess I should scoot for now, I will try to get back soon. I hope you are all have a wonderfully blessed week so far.
Hugs!
